EnviroSafe Demil prides itself on innovating systems that provide an environmentally-friendly solution for thermally neutralizing explosives and energetic contaminated materials, resulting in maximum materials recovery and recyclables. EnviroSafe's "Hybrid Technologies" are the future of the industry. EnviroSafe utilizes an array of capabilities to thermally neutralize and volatize energetic materials such as propellants, explosives, and pyrotechnic materials. ESD has also designed most its technologies to be fully mobile to allow for use in a multitude of applications.
ESD’s revolutionary Hybrid Burn Chamber© (HBC) combines the ability to contain various material constituents, with the omnivorous capability to provide demilitarization for numerous munition items such as rocket motors, flares, smoke munitions, and virtually any munition that is ignitable and non-mass detonating. The HBC can be described as a contained chamber that utilizes state-of-the-art pollution abatement systems to achieve low/non-detectable emission levels. ESD’s HBC is the perfect alternative to open burning numerus materials.
The HBC is ESD's stationary flagship technology allowing materials within the chamber to react and consume themselves in the manner they were originally designed.
ESD's Energetic Activation Unit© (EAU) is innovated from proven technologies recognized by the National Academy of Sciences. The EAU is a steel vessel that is contained within an insulated structure that is externally heated. The heat slowly and indirectly warms the exterior walls of the steel vessel, eventually bringing the temperature inside the steel vessel to the appropriate level to induce volatilization of the energetics.
The EAU is designed for decontamination and neutralization of energetic materials by indirect heating for sufficient time and temperature to render the discharged materials inert and safe for general release and recycling. ESD’s EAU was strategically designed to be fully mobile so that it can be deployed to other locations for various operational uses. The EAU provides superior control and reliability versus open burning/open detonation (OB/OD), provides equivalent deactivation performance to rotary kiln incineration systems or static detonation chambers, and has the added benefit of being transportable if needed.
The EAU is ESD's mobile flagship technology for maximum materials recovery and recycling of remaining metals and alloys remaining after demilitarization has completed.
Versatile and proven, variants of ESD’s Mobile Response Unit© (MRU) system are widely used for safely decontaminating explosive contaminated materials, thermal destruction of small arms ammunition, and disposal of combustible energetic contaminated materials.
The system is designed for destruction of energetic materials and decontamination of material potentially presenting an explosive hazard (MPPEH) by direct heating for sufficient time and temperature to render the discharged materials to be inert and safe for general release and recycling (certified safe or “5X”). The MRU's emissions are more environmentally-friendly and provide superior control and reliability versus “open burning”.
Operations involving decontamination of tools, buildings, structures, equipment, and remediation of materials or soils are well-suited for ESD's Mobile Decontamination System © (MDS). The MDS is fully transportable and allows for decontamination of metal and materials to a 5X level so they can be sent to metal recyclers. The system can be installed in a fixed location, or can be deployed to any location for transportable field applications. During MDS operations, emissions are typically below the "de-minimis" levels established by most states, and operations typically require no permits (may vary by state). This allows for ESD to perform quick and efficient site clean-up and remediation or decontamination activities.
EnviroSafe' employs numerous types of air pollution control equipment including thermal oxidizers (afterburners), cyclones, baghouses, wet and dry gas scrubbers, fans, and stacks. These elements are utilized in different capacities with ESD's thermal systems. Our "Hybrid Technology" also includes the innovative use of SCR and SNCR technology to remove NOx to meet stringent US EPA requirements.
ESD's mobile units and systems utilize technology for on-site thermal neutralization and decontamination of hazardous contaminated explosive materials. An example of the performance ESD's strives to achieve for its mobile systems include:
